Your First Massage
|
| Please walk in to my office shortly before your appointment
time; no need to knock. I schedule at least 30 minutes between
appointments so you needn't worry about interrupting another patron.
I'll ask you some
questions about your health and lifestyle, and have you fill out a
brief information form. You may have health
conditions that would prevent you from having a massage, or might
require some adjustments to positions or techniques. If you have
medical concerns, it's a good idea to get permission from your health
care provider before you get a massage. |
| I will ask you to remove as much clothing as you feel
comfortable with (most people remove all their clothing), and
crawl onto my table. I will leave the room while you get undressed, and
you will be draped at all times, to preserve not only your modesty, but
your warmth. You will receive a full body massage, head to toe,
including your scalp, face, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, your abdomen,
glutes, legs and feet. You may choose not to have certain areas worked
on, if you are ticklish, or uncomfortable. |
| I generally have you start lying face down, with your face in
the special cradle. Each of your parts will be massaged: neck, back,
shoulders, arms and hands, glutes, legs and feet. You may not realize
how much you need it until you have the muscles worked! About half way
through your hour, I will ask you to turn over, still keeping you
covered with the sheet. The massage continues with a face massage,
ears, shoulders, arms and hands. Your legs and feet get more attention,
and, if you wish, your chest and abdomen. |
| You know that little ache in your shoulders after you spend
the day on the telephone, at the keyboard, on the golf course? It may
not be your shoulders, it may be your lower back, or your feet throwing
the rest of you out of alignment. Massage will also increase blood flow
and help release muscle adhesions which contribute to night-time leg
cramping (or restless legs), headaches, the pain of endometriosis and
other chronic disorders. |
You may experience profound relaxation; you may fall asleep.
You may want to talk during your massage, or you may prefer to listen
to the background music. This is your hour on the table, you are there
to enjoy. I will ask you if you are comfortable, if the pressure is
good; please, let me know if something is not right...I want you to be
happy.
